With more than twenty years’ experience in mergers and acquisitions, public and private equity and debt financings and restructurings, David Wood has represented public and private companies, start-up companies, institutional and individual investors, and corporate and securities law clients in private placements, public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, federal and state securities law compliance, and general corporate and contractual matters.
David’s career includes serving as General Counsel of a venture-backed business process outsourcing firm and a publicly-traded security software company. While serving as General Counsel, he handled all legal matters for the companies, gaining a valuable perspective on how to best serve the needs of his clients. David began his corporate practice at Hughes & Luce, LLP (now part of KL Gates), where he worked on corporate, securities and M&A transactions.
He holds the AV Preeminent (5.0 out of 5.0) Martindale-Hubbell rating from his peers in the legal profession. This top peer rating signifies the highest level of professional excellence for legal knowledge and ethical standards.
David is a member of the State Bar of Texas and a past member of the Council of the Dallas Bar Association’s Corporate Counsel Section. He has been involved in civic, charitable and educational organizations including the Alumni Board of St. Mark’s School of Texas, the Board of the Parents Association of Hockaday School, and the Board of Directors of Story Power, Inc. David is an avid traveler, and visited all seven continents in one year and all 31 Mexican states. His interests also include scuba diving, UT sports, Mexico futbol, kids’ athletic and artistic events, and time with his three teenage children.
